North of this plot 200 m is an Abies / Alder woodland. East roughly 100 m is another Abies / Alder woodland. To the south is an upland forest dominated by Prunus serotina. To the west is a small patch of an black cherry upland forest. There is also a small 30 m x 20 m Carex utriculata clone 30 m north of the plot.;This is a mid-successional open "bog". An old fence line runs across the opening. The area was historically logged and cleared for agriculture. Deer trails criss-cross the opening. The area is owned by the state park so the main threat to plant communities is deer herbivory.
Representativeness
